Our history

In 2011, Zangro, director and producer, created Bien ou Bien Productions, which produces fiction for cinema and television. Bien ou Bien Productions produces feature films, shorts and TV movies, and has been honored with over 150 international awards, including two Césars and several prestigious prizes at Sundance, Toronto... Supported by numerous private and public partners, our films have distinguished themselves at festivals around the world, reflecting our desire to promote, in our own way, directors we recognize as having a unique perspective on the world we live in.

Bien ou Bien Productions received the 2018 Prix Jeune Producteur from France Télévisions, which rewards the first 6 years of activity of a production company for the excellence of its creations. Zangro is one of the 10 producers to watch worldwide in 2019 according to American magazine Variety. According to Ecran Total, he is one of France's most sought-after international talents.  Bien ou Bien Productions is also the first company in the history of the Aquitaine region to have produced a 90-minute television drama.

Maïmouna Doucouré's short film Maman(s) went down in French cinema history as the only film in any category to win Best International Film at Sundance, Toronto and the César in 2017.

Her first feature film, “Mignonnes”, hits cinemas on August 19, 2020. Directed by Maïmouna Doucouré, it tackles the theme of the hypersexualization of pre-adolescent girls in this day and age. The film won Best Director at the Sundance Film Festival and the International Jury's Special Mention in Berlin (Generation). Lead actress Fathia Youssouf won the César for Best Actress for her role in “Mignonnes”. The win also brings a nomination for the 2021 Césars in the Best First Film category.

Maïmouna Doucouré's new feature film, Hawa, will be broadcast on Prime Vidéo in 2022. It has also been broadcast in over 240 territories and translated into 85 languages. This initiatory tale features some incredible talents, including Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Oumou Sangaré, Yseult, crowned Revelation of the Year at the Victoires de la Musique awards, young actress Sania Halifa, who plays her first role here, and Thomas Pesquet, a world figure in astronautics, on screen for the first time.

Bien ou Bien Productions is currently in post-production on its action thriller, Coka Chicas in collaboration with StudioCanal, starring talented actresses, scheduled for release in May 2025. We are also working on the first biopic dedicated to Joséphine BAKER. This international feature film, co-produced with StudioCanal, will shoot in 2025.
